The United BioSource Corporation (UBC) Marketing team has spearheaded the development of a book entitled, Evidence Matters: Solution-Driven Approaches to Scientific, Regulatory & Commercial Challenges Facing the Biopharmaceutical Industry, with chapters written by more than 40 UBC scientists and practice area leads from all areas of the organization.
UBC-Envision Group’s Russell Traynor has co-authored an article in the June issue of Pharmaceutical Marketing Europe. In a feature entitled ‘Quality Control’, Russell and Sarah L. Feeney have addressed current concerns surrounding publication planning in emerging markets.
A number of UBC-Envision Group employees regularly serve as officers, presenters, and volunteers in publications-specialty organizations such as the International Society of Medical Publications Professionals (ISMPP) and the American Medical Writers Association (AMWA). Most recently, Tom Gegeny, a Team Lead & Senior Medical Writer in UBC-Envision Group’s Scientific Solutions team, led workshops at two AMWA chapter meetings.
Russell Traynor, of UBC-Envision Group’s Client Solutions team, has been elected President of the International Society of Medical Publications Professionals (ISMPP), beginning in 2012. This selection represents an unparalleled degree of success for the company, as it is the second time in the society’s short history that a UBC-Envision Group team member has been elected to lead the ISMPP (in 2008–2009, the presidency was held by Gene Snyder).
UBC-Envision Group was once again strongly represented at the 7th Annual Meeting of the International Society for Medical Publication Professionals (ISMPP). This year’s meeting was entitled 'Anticipating Change in Medical Publications: Leading Now for the Future', and took place in Arlington, Virginia, April 4–6, 2011. Six UBC-Envision Group team members gave presentations during the 3-day meeting.
Dan Donovan, co-founder of UBC-Envision Group, was featured in the latest US edition of Communiqué magazine, which invited several industry leaders to participate in a roundtable discussion on the issue of ghostwriting. Communiqué editor Kate Fodor asked participants to explain the distinctions between medical writing and the ghostwriting that has come under fire in the lay press and to explain some of the areas of confusion when it comes to the press’ and the public’s understanding of medical communications.
