Russell’s role at UBC-Envision Group is Strategic Business Unit Head, responsible for the development and implementation of publications strategies across his client’s portfolio. Key to achieving this objective is a thorough and current understanding of the publications arena and the factors affecting pharmaceutical publication programs. On the technology front, Russell oversees his group’s implementation, usage, and quest for continuous improvement of his clients' selected software solution.
Russell has worked in medical communications since 1997, both as a medical writer and account lead. During this time, Russell has developed and managed numerous publications programs, covering Europe, the United States, Global, and the United Kingdom. In addition to publication planning and management, Russell has managed a wealth of meetings and advisory boards, opinion leader and disease area development programs, and medical educational roll-out projects, including websites, product monographs, slide kits, and multimedia projects.
Russell’s recent presentations and publications include "The Implementation of Good Publications Practice" at the 4th Annual Meeting of the International Society for Medical Publications Professionals (ISMPP); “The Role of Technology in Publications Planning” at the 2008 Publication Strategy and Planning Management Forum Summer School in London; “Measuring Success in Publications Programs – Effective Use of Metrics” at the 5th Annual Meeting of ISMPP and as a subsequent ISMPP-U webcast, Chairing the Inaugural European meeting of ISMPP, at “Practical Approaches to Meeting Publication Deadlines in the Current Environment” CBI's 3rd Annual Clinical Trial Registries and Results Databases; and “Access Granted” published by Pharmaceutical Marketing Europe: http://www.pmlive.com/find_an_article/allarticles/categories/General

Russell has served on ISMPP’s Executive Board as the European representative of ISMPP from 2009 until 2011, and is currently the President-Elect of ISMPP. Russell has been awarded the status of Certified Medical Publication Professional (CMPP).
